Frequently Asked Questions
- Question
Is GALILEO available on mobile devices?
- Alternate Question(s):
-
Can I access GALILEO from my iPhone, Droid, iPad, or other device?
- Answer
-
While users can access and use GALILEO on a mobile device right now, the interface is not currently optimized for the small screens of mobile devices. GALILEO is planning to launch a browser-based interface specifically for mobile devices.
However, many GALILEO resources are mobile friendly or offer apps. It is best to access these resources from your device through GALILEO or through a GALILEO Express Link so that the vendor site recognizes that you are a GALILEO user. You can bookmark the GALILEO Express Link on your phone.
- EBSCO resources, which include the Discover GALILEO service, automatically detect if a user is coming from a mobile phone and sends the user to a mobile-friendly site.
- The academic version of Encyclopaedia Britannica Online (Express Link: http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=zebo) also detects mobile users.
Other vendors with mobile views include:
- LexisNexis Academic Mobile http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=zxau:lexis_nexis_academic_mobile
- MedlinePlus http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=imei
- WorldCat Mobile http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=zowc:worldcat_mobile
Not all of the above resources are available to all GALILEO participating institutions. To see a complete list of databases available by consortia, please see our database listings.
