My library is ready to implement Discovery — when do we start?

How do we coordinate with GALILEO to implement Discovery?

The first phase of GALILEO is focused on replacing the federated search tool in the GALILEO interface with a EDS-powered discovery search. GALILEO has worked behind-the-scenes with EBSCO to create custom community-based search profiles for each GALILEO institution, which the GALILEO system will use for searching from the GALILEO interface. For this reason, there is nothing that libraries need to do to implement Discovery in this phase. In Winter and Spring 2013, libraries will be able to customize Discovery for their institution as part of the library localization phase.
EDS is administered through the EBSCO administrative interface by GALILEO for the GALILEO consortia. However, individual libraries can also share administrative access. Procedures and policies are being developed to address how to share administration, both preventing disruption of the GALILEO service and providing opportunities for libraries to localize. Once the baseline configurations are complete for the GALILEO resources, library catalogs, and other data, libraries will be able to customize their EDS experience outside of the GALILEO interface via EBSCO admin and their library website, including locally-purchased resources.
