Since EBSCO has retired their dedicated mobile application, you will need to use the Bluefire Reader App to download and read EBSCO eBooks offline. This document serves as a guide on how to check out eBooks using the Bluefire Reader App.

Before setting up the Bluefire Reader App, you will the following:

Authenticate using Adobe ID ( used for DRM management)

  1. Enter your Adobe ID and password.
  2. Click “Authorize.”

After obtaining the account information and installing the Bluefire Reader App, follow these steps to search and download an eBook.

Using your Apple device’s web browser, access eBooks on EBSCOhost through GALILEO (Express Link: http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=zmnl) or through GALILEO directly (http://www.galileo.usg.edu)

  1. You will now be prompted to enter your GALILEO password.
  2. Search for the eBook title using either the GALILEO search box or eBooks on EBSCO search box

  3. download ebook
  4. Once you find the eBook you’d like to read, click on the download link.
  5. If you’re not already signed into your My EBSCOhost account, you will be prompted to do so.

  7. After logging into your My EBSCOhost account, you will be asked to select an eBook format (PDF or ePub if available) along with a download duration (up to 7 days).
  8. If you’ve already downloaded the BlueFire Reader App, check the box labeled “I have Bluefire Reader or equivalent installed.”
  9. Select “Download.”

  11. The Bluefire Reader App should now open, then your eBook will start downloading. If this does not happen, you may need to disable the pop-up blocker in Safari for iOS.

  13. After your eBook downloads, it will appear in your “Bookshelf.” You will also see how many days are left in your checkout period.

  15. You can read the eBook by tapping on the book cover.

Note: After your eBook checkout expires, the eBook file will still be on your device but cannot be opened. You must remove the file manually by opening Bluefire Reader App and selecting to remove it from your library.
